Getting information out of DB Precision is done through either a Person Worksheet or an Export Definition. A Person Worksheet is typically only used if you are exporting information for multiple people where the results do not include any calculated or derived values, and where the results do not need to be merged with Microsoft Word.
If you need to create a set of benefit statements, create an election forms package, or perform a benefit estimate, these are all done using an export.
Exported results from an Export Definition can be extracted in either a text or delimited format. If an Export Definition includes a Word Document name in its configuration, then DB Precision will automatically open Word upon export completion. Otherwise, it will open Excel.
Similar to Import Definitions, Export Definitions can be set up to extract multiple row layouts within the same export. However, this is very rare and most exports only use a single row layout.
To create an Export Definition, open the Plan Document, right-click Export Definitions, and select Add from the resulting menu.
To edit an Export Definition, double-click on the Export Definition name. This will open the Export Definition screen. There, you will be able to edit things such as data filtering, row sorting, format type, and default file names.
You will also be able to configure export results to be accessible within the Internet portal. A Messages tab allows you to create custom error messages and warnings which can notify users under different conditions.
To edit an Export Provision, double-click on the row immediately below the Export Definition name (usually titled "single row"). This will open the Export Provision screen where you can specify which columns/items you want to include in your export as well as specify the format of each item (by double-clicking on an item within the list).
A wizard on this screen can be used to speed up the process of adding items to your export (press the Wizard button to access).
