Introduction
PensionSoft's DBPXL Excel Add-in allows users to calculate annuity and conversion factors as well as commutation functions within Excel.
  • DBPXL Excel Ribbon Tab:  when DBPXL is installed, a new tab is located on the Excel Ribbon, called DBPXL. This tab is where you can store and edit Mortality Tables, Actuarial Equivalence Definitions, and Payment Forms which are then referenced by the Formula Writer. The most commonly used items and tables come preloaded.

Additionally, DBPXL allows you to view and edit published interest rate information (minimum present value PPA rates, for example) as well as update your company's license information.
  • Formula Writer:  Once all other tabs have been set up, you will be able to create formulas directly in Excel that will calculate certain actuarial items such as annuity and conversion factors.

Creating Your First Excel Formula
The easiest way to write a formula is to use the Formula Writer found in the DBPXL tab. The following steps walk you through creating a basic Life Annuity factor:
  • 1) Open the Formula Writer:  go to the DBPXL tab in Excel and press the Formula Writer button.
  • 2) Select Actuarial Equivalence and Payment Form:  select "Sample AE" for Actuarial Equivalence and then select "LA" (Life Annuity) for Payment Form.
  • 3) Create Formula:  click the OK button, and a formula will be inserted into the active cell in your Excel workbook.
