The DBPXL Add-in allows users to create and edit Actuarial Equivalence, Forms of Payment, and Mortality Tables.
If you need to restrict certain users from being able to make such changes and you also use DB Precision, you may use DB Precision to define those access rights.
To be able to do this however, 1) each DBPXL user must be set up in DB Precision as a System User, and 2) each of those users must have their Windows Login name defined in DB Precision (must be set by a DB Precision Administrator on the Basic User Information screen).
- Make Sure that Each DBPXL User has DB Precision Login: log in as a DB Precision Administrator and then choose File - New - User from the main ribbon.
- Open Users: select File - Browse - User and select a System User from the list that appears.
- Open Basic Information Screen: double-click the user name in the DB Precision main window.
- Specify Windows Login: enter the Users Windows User name in the "Bypass System Login Using Windows User Name" box.
All DBPXL access rights are defined by using the Mortality Tables setting in DB Precision. By setting this to None, View, or Edit in DB Precision, access to Mortality Tables, Forms of Payment, and Actuarial Equivalence are all defined.
- Open the System User: in DB Precision select File - Browse - User and select the System User from the list that appears.
-
Open Standard Rights Screen: double-click the Standard Rights item.
Information about this window can be found by clicking the question mark or by going to the Standard Rights Help Topic.
- Mortality Tables: set this to None, View, or Edit for a System User (or System User Group if defining on a group-level) and this will also define access to Mortality Tables, Forms of Payment, and Actuarial Equivalence in DBPXL.
- Published Rates: when this is set to view or edit a user can click on "System Settings" in DBPXL and view any published rates tables. Note however they will still be unable to make any changes to these published tables in DBPXL.
- System Administrator: checking this box gives the user permission to update the DBPXL license key and configure the local database connection.
