When an item is opened read-only, changes to that item will not be saved to the database. If a person is opened read-only, changes can be made in memory and will be reflected when running exports or calculations for that person in the same user session before closing the person tab. If another user subsequently opens that same item and has write-access to that item, they will be able to save changes to that item to the database.
Any time that an item is opened read-only, DB Precision will display an alert to the user that the item has been opened read-only, and the icon on the items tab will appear as a lock.
The following are reasons that an item is opened read-only:
- 1) Already Opened: another user already has the item opened with write-access.
- 2) Read-only Access: the user opening the item does not have edit-access to that item.
- 3) Open Read-Only: when opening an item, the Open Read-Only checkbox has been checked on the Open screen.
Importing data and making data changes to a Person Worksheet when a sponsor is opened read-only is not restricted.
